Getting Started
-
Our regular dance season begins the week of August 10, 2026 and runs through May 2027. We welcome new and returning dancers each fall and look forward to an exciting season of learning, growing, and performing together!
-
Yes! New students are welcome to join throughout the season as long as space is available. Tuition will be prorated based on your dancer's start date. While we encourage families to enroll early to secure their preferred class, our instructors are experienced in helping new dancers transition into class and feel confident and included. Registration for the 2026/2027 season closed February 28th, 2027.
-
If a class reaches capacity, additional students will be placed on a waitlist. If space becomes available, families will be contacted in the order they joined the waitlist.
Because many of our classes fill before the season begins, we encourage families to register early. If your first-choice class is full, we recommend enrolling in your second-choice class time to ensure your dancer has a spot for the season. If an opening becomes available in your preferred class, we'll be happy to assist with transferring your registration, provided space is available.
-
Most of our classes are organized by age, making it easy to choose the appropriate level for your dancer. If your child has more than two years of experience in a particular style, they may be ready for a Level 2 class or another advanced placement. In these cases, we may recommend a trial class or placement evaluation with one of our instructors to ensure your dancer is challenged while continuing to build confidence and strong technique.
If you're unsure where to begin, we'd be happy to help you find the best fit!
-
Our goal is for every dancer to feel confident, challenged, and successful in class. If we feel your dancer would benefit from a different level after the first few weeks of classes, we'll reach out to discuss a placement recommendation. Likewise, if you have concerns about your dancer's placement, please don't hesitate to contact us. We work closely with families to ensure every student is in the class where they will thrive.
-
It's completely normal for children to need a little time to adjust to a new activity, instructor, or classroom environment. We encourage families to give their dancer a few classes to become comfortable before deciding whether dance is the right fit.
Sometimes it's simply a matter of finding the right dance style. A child who isn't drawn to ballet may absolutely love Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Jazz, or Acro. If your dancer doesn't seem to connect with their class, we'd be happy to recommend another style that better matches their personality and interests.
Our goal is for every child to have a positive, encouraging experience and discover a lifelong love of dance.
-
Yes! We offer free trial classes so your dancer can experience our studio before enrolling. Trial classes are a wonderful opportunity to meet our instructors, explore different dance styles, and find the class that's the best fit.
Please note that trial classes are offered based on class availability and may be paused during certain times of the year, such as summer or while classes are preparing for performances.
-

Choosing The Right Dance Program
-
Haven Dance offers dance classes for children beginning at 18 months old through high school. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to meet dancers at every stage of development, from parent-and-child classes and preschool dance to recreational, pre-professional, and Company training. Whether your child is taking their very first dance class or has years of experience, we have a class that's the right fit.
-
Haven Dance offers a wide variety of dance styles for dancers of all ages and experience levels, including:
Dance With Me (18 months–2 years)
Creative Movement
Ballet
Tap
Jazz
Hip Hop
Lyrical
Contemporary
Musical Theatre
Acro
Pre-Pointe & Pointe
Our curriculum is designed to provide dancers with a well-rounded education while encouraging creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of dance.
-
Absolutely! Many of our classes are designed specifically for dancers with little or no previous experience. Our beginner classes provide a welcoming environment where children learn age-appropriate technique, classroom skills, coordination, musicality, and confidence at a pace that is fun and encouraging.
Whether your child is 2 or 12 years old, it's never too late to begin dancing!
-
Every child develops at their own pace, but many children are ready to begin dance between 18 months and 3 years old.
Our Dance With Me program introduces toddlers and caregivers to music and movement, while Creative Movement and our preschool classes help young dancers build confidence, coordination, listening skills, and classroom independence. As children grow, they naturally progress into age-appropriate ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and other dance styles.
-
The best class depends on your child's age, interests, personality, and goals.
Dance With Me is a wonderful introduction for toddlers and caregivers.
Creative Movement encourages imagination, coordination, and confidence for young beginners.
Ballet develops grace, discipline, technique, and body awareness.
Tap builds rhythm, timing, and musicality.
Jazz emphasizes energetic movement and performance skills.
Hip Hop is perfect for dancers who enjoy upbeat music and expressive movement.
Musical Theatre combines dance, acting, and storytelling.
Acro develops flexibility, strength, balance, and tumbling skills.
Lyrical and Contemporary blend ballet and jazz techniques with expressive movement and artistry.
If you're unsure where to start, our team is happy to recommend the best class based on your child's age, experience, and interests.
-
If your child is attending a trial class, comfortable athletic clothing that allows for movement is perfectly acceptable. If they already have dance shoes, they are welcome to wear them, but they are not required for a first visit.
After enrollment, dancers should follow our studio dress code, which varies by class and helps promote safety, proper technique, and a professional learning environment. You can find complete dress code information on our Dress Code page.
-
Dance offers children so much more than physical activity. Students develop confidence, coordination, balance, flexibility, musicality, discipline, creativity, teamwork, and perseverance while building lifelong friendships.
At Haven Dance, we believe dance also teaches valuable life skills such as responsibility, resilience, leadership, goal setting, and self-expression. Our goal is to help every child grow not only as a dancer but as a confident, kind, and capable individual.
-
Yes! Haven Dance proudly offers both recreational and Company programs.
Our recreational program is perfect for dancers who want to have fun, make friends, learn new skills, and perform in our annual Winter Show and Spring Recital.
For dancers seeking additional training and performance opportunities, our Company Program provides advanced instruction, leadership development, community performances, and optional regional competitions in a positive and encouraging environment.
-

-
Registering is easy! Families can browse our class schedule and enroll online through our website using our secure Parent Portal.
If you need help choosing the right class, our team is happy to provide personalized recommendations based on your child's age, experience, and goals. We encourage early registration, as many of our classes fill before the season begins and may have waitlists.
Classes and Training
-
Combo classes are a wonderful way to introduce your child to multiple styles of dance in one class! Dancers receive well-rounded training while exploring different styles in a fun and engaging environment.
In our two-style combo classes, the class is divided evenly between each dance style. For example, a Ballet/Tap class will spend the first half of class learning one style and the second half learning the other.
Throughout the season, dancers will learn routines in both styles. They will perform one style in our Winter Show and the other in our Spring Recital. The order of the performances is determined by the instructor based on the class's overall progress and readiness in each style. This approach allows dancers to gain confidence and experience in both dance styles while building a strong technical foundation.
-
Absolutely! Many of our dancers participate in multiple classes each week. Taking a variety of dance styles helps dancers become more versatile, well-rounded performers while continuing to build strength, coordination, flexibility, and confidence.
We especially encourage ballet as the foundation of a dancer's training. Ballet develops the technique, alignment, musicality, and discipline that benefits every other style of dance. As dancers grow, adding additional classes often leads to greater confidence, faster technical progress, and more performance opportunities.
If you're unsure which combination of classes is best for your dancer, we'd be happy to provide recommendations based on their age, experience, and goals.
-
At Haven Dance, we take an eclectic and well-rounded approach to ballet instruction. Our curriculum draws from several internationally respected training methods, including Vaganova, Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), and American Ballet Theatre (ABT).
Rather than following a single syllabus, our faculty incorporates the strengths of each methodology to provide dancers with exceptional technical training, proper body alignment, artistry, musicality, and performance quality. This comprehensive approach allows our dancers to build a strong classical foundation while preparing them for success across all styles of dance.
-
Yes! Haven Dance Company is designed for dancers who are passionate about performing, growing in their training, and becoming part of a dedicated team.
Our Company Program is open to dancers ages 7 and older and offers additional performance opportunities, advanced training, and optional regional competitions. Company dancers perform dedicated Company choreography, featured roles in our annual Winter Show, and special performances throughout the community in addition to our Spring Recital.
At Haven Dance, we believe Company is about much more than competition. Our program emphasizes teamwork, leadership, commitment, artistry, and personal growth while encouraging dancers to strive for excellence in a positive and supportive environment.
Auditions are held each summer, with placements based on age, technical ability, readiness, and commitment. Families interested in learning more about our Company Program are encouraged to contact us at info@danceathaven.com.
-
The number of classes your dancer takes depends on their age, experience, and goals. Many recreational dancers begin with one class each week, while others choose to explore multiple styles. As dancers become more experienced, adding additional classes helps build strength, confidence, versatility, and technique. If you're unsure what schedule is best, our team is happy to make personalized recommendations.
-
For preschool and recreational dancers, ballet is not required unless it is part of a combo class. However, we highly encourage ballet for dancers who wish to improve their overall technique, as it provides the foundation for every style of dance.
For dancers in our Company Program and Pre-Pointe and Pointe program, ballet requirements vary based on age and level and are outlined in each program's guidelines.
-
Our instructors evaluate dancers throughout the season based on technical ability, strength, coordination, class readiness, attendance, maturity, and overall progress. Advancement is not based solely on age or the number of years a dancer has participated. Our goal is to place every dancer where they will continue to grow while feeling confident and successful.
-
Dancers should arrive dressed in the appropriate dance attire with the required shoes for their class. We recommend bringing a labeled water bottle and arriving with hair secured according to the dress code. Please leave toys, food, and valuables at home whenever possible.
-
If space is available, class changes may be possible during the season. We understand that schedules and interests can change, and we'll do our best to find a class that is the best fit for your dancer. Please contact our office before attending a different class so we can help with the transition.
-
Class sizes vary depending on the age and level of the dancers. We strive to maintain class sizes that allow instructors to provide individual attention while creating an engaging and positive group environment. Minimum enrollment requirements apply for classes to run, and maximum enrollment limits help ensure a quality learning experience.
-
Our instructors focus on creating a positive, encouraging environment while providing age-appropriate challenges for every dancer. Throughout the season, students develop proper technique, musicality, flexibility, coordination, strength, confidence, and performance quality. We celebrate individual progress and encourage every dancer to grow at their own pace.
-
Not always. Our faculty assignments are made each season based on the needs of our students, instructor expertise, and class offerings. Having the opportunity to learn from different instructors allows dancers to experience a variety of teaching styles while continuing to receive consistent, high-quality training.
-
Whenever possible, we strive to build a schedule that is convenient for families by offering classes that allow siblings to dance at the same time or on the same day. While we cannot guarantee every combination, we are always happy to help families find the most convenient schedule available.
Tuition & Policies
-
Our regular dance season consists of 36 weeks of instruction from August through May. For your convenience, tuition is divided into 10 equal monthly installments (August–May), rather than being based on the number of classes each month. This means your monthly tuition remains the same regardless of holidays or the number of lesson weeks in a particular month.
Tuition reserves your dancer's place in class and is non-refundable. Registration, recital, and costume fees are also non-refundable.
-
Tuition is prorated for August's mid-month start date and only when a dancer enrolls after the season has begun. Once enrolled, monthly tuition remains the same throughout the season and is not prorated for missed classes, holidays, weather closures, or withdrawals during the month.
-
If your dancer needs to withdraw, please email info@danceathaven.com to request a Class Withdrawal Form.
To avoid tuition charges for the following month, both the email request and completed withdrawal form must be received by the 15th of the current month. Verbal notice, text messages, or simply stopping attendance do not complete the withdrawal process.
-
Tuition is processed through our Parent Portal using the payment method on file. Automatic monthly tuition is charged on the 1st of each month.
-
Registration fees, recital fees, costume fees, and tuition payments are non-refundable.
Attendance & Performances
-
Yes! Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in a dancer's success. Regular attendance helps students build technique, confidence, strength, and classroom friendships while progressing safely throughout the season.
Attendance becomes especially important as performances approach, since choreography, formations, and spacing are practiced each week.
-
If your dancer will be absent, we ask that you log the absence through the Parent Portal whenever possible.
If an absence occurs, dancers may be eligible to schedule a make-up class depending on the time of year and class availability.
-
Yes! Make-up classes are offered year round with the exclusion of November-December and April-May(as these months are dedicated to recital preparations.) Students may attend any genre of class within their age/level for makeups. Because classes begin preparing recital choreography during the spring semester, make-up classes are not offered after January.
All make-up classes must be scheduled in advance by emailing info@danceathaven.com. Please wait for confirmation before attending a make-up class.
-
Participation in our Winter Show and Spring Recital is optional but highly encouraged. Performing on stage allows dancers to celebrate their hard work, build confidence, develop stage presence, and create lasting memories with their classmates.
-
Dress rehearsal is required for all dancers participating in performances. It allows dancers to become familiar with the stage, lighting, spacing, and backstage procedures before the performance.
If a dancer misses dress rehearsal, participation in the performance may not be possible for safety and staging reasons.
-
Recital classes require one costume per class. Combo classes perform one style during the Winter Show and the other during the Spring Recital using the appropriate costume for each performance.
-
Costumes are ordered in the fall for our Winter show and in January/February for our Spring Recital to allow adequate production time before performances. Because costumes are custom ordered specifically for each dancer, costume fees are non-refundable once costume fees have been billed.
Studio Information
-
Each class has a specific dress code designed to promote safety, proper technique, and freedom of movement. Please visit our Dress Code page for the most current requirements, including approved attire, shoe requirements, and recommended retailers.
-
Dress code items may be purchased through our online Nimbly shop or at local dance retailers such as Belissimo and Spell's Dancewear.
-
Yes! Families are welcome to relax in our lobby and enjoy our live classroom viewing screens. We also offer Spot TV, allowing enrolled families to securely watch classes remotely.
To minimize distractions and encourage student independence, parents are not permitted inside the dance studios during class except during dance with me classes and designated observation opportunities.
-
We communicate primarily through email. Be sure to mark us as a safe sender so our messages don't go to spam. Please be sure your contact information remains up to date so you don't miss important announcements throughout the season.
-
Haven Dance follows it's own studio calendar, which includes scheduled holidays and breaks throughout the season. While some holidays align with Williamson County Schools, others may differ. Please refer to our Studio Calendar for the most current schedule.
-
Because weather conditions can vary across our area, Haven Dance makes independent decisions regarding weather closures. Families will be notified by email, 2 hours prior to classes. Additionally we will post on social media.
Since weather-related closures are beyond our control, tuition is not refunded or prorated for these cancellations.
-
Please have dancers arrive 5–10 minutes before class to allow time to prepare.
For safety, dancers should be picked up promptly after class. Students should remain inside the building until their ride arrives. Dancers Junior levels and below must wait inside the studio for pickup. If a child is not picked up on time, staff will attempt to contact the parent/guardian on file.
Haven Dance is not a licensed child care facility, and therefore cannot supervise unattended children outside of class time.
Health and Safety
-
Please include all allergies, medical conditions, injuries, and emergency information during registration and notify us of any updates throughout the season. Our staff will do their best to provide a safe and supportive environment for every dancer.
-
If your dancer is injured but able to attend, we encourage them to observe class whenever possible. Observation allows dancers to continue learning choreography, terminology, and classroom instruction while remaining connected to their classmates.
Unfortunately, tuition cannot be paused or refunded due to injury.
Make-up classes may be offered once student is recovered from injury.
-
All dancers preschool levels and up must be fully potty trained and able to use the restroom independently before attending class. If your child has a developmental or medical need, please contact us so we can discuss the best options for your family.
-
We are committed to maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful environment for every dancer. Kindness, respect, responsibility, and encouragement are expected from all students.
Bullying, harassment, disruptive behavior, or repeated disrespect toward staff or classmates will not be tolerated. Depending on the situation, consequences may include a verbal warning, sitting out of class, a parent conference, or dismissal from the studio. Haven Dance reserves the right to dismiss any student whose behavior negatively impacts the learning environment or the safety and well-being of others.
-
To protect the privacy of all dancers and minimize classroom distractions, photography and video recording are not permitted during classes. Families may take photos and videos of their own child as long as there is no interruption of class.(ex: through the observation window.)
During performances, photography and videography are not permitted. Professional performance photos and videos may also be available for purchase following the event.
